What is Screen Resolution?
Screen resolution refers to the sharpness of text or image on a
computer screen. It is calculated by the number of dots vertically
and horizontally. Standard screen resolutions for computer
monitors are as follows:
| VGA |
640 x 480 |
| SVGA |
800 x 600 |
| XGA |
1024 x 768 |
| SXGA |
1280 x 1040 |
| UXGA |
1600 x 1200 |
| QXGA |
2048 x 1536 |
The screen resolution that is used on a computer will depend on a
number of factors including the screen size, the capabilities of the
video card and the personal preferences of the computer user. Because
more information can be displayed when the resolution is higher, a given
web page will look very different depending on the screen resolution
setting.
